MacBook Air making duplicate folders

My Macbook Air started making duplicate folders it would just add a 2 at the end of the name. I checked them and one of the two files would be empty so I deleted it.

Does anybody has had this problem?

Now I am trying to find some files and the folders are empty. Mainly downloaded adobe files.

It usually occurs when you try to copy a file with the same name that is already at the destination folder. macOS adds the number to the end of the name because two items cannot share the exact same name in a single folder.

Which can be caused by a few different factors such as file system errors, sync issues, or malware.
