Home Assistant can be used to automate switching from gas heating to electric heating when supplier prices are advantageous. Can Home be automated in such a way?

Thanks for this. There is an App available called Home Assistant which is open Source and can be programmed to take into account price fluctuations and well as temperature fluctuations. Just wondered if the same was possible with Home. Pretty sure it can't at this stage.

HomeKit can connect to smart thermostats. I’m not sure what you’re expecting it to do though. It’s not going to be monitoring price fluctuations. That would be up to you to monitor and make adjustments accordingly.

Agreed. Home Assistant, open source, appears to be pretty good. I've not used it yet but Im having a good look at it.
