AirPod Pro 2 Digital Sounds During Phone Calls Only

Only during calls, in and out, the sound will go digital and then normal. First it was just on my end, now both me and the person on the other end is hearing the same thing. It’s SO annoying! I’ve updated the phone. I’ve disconnected and re-installed. What am I missing?!
