Forgot Mac password — FileVault locked, need to regain access without data loss

Hello Apple Support team,

My name is [mokaram ***** ]. I am the owner of a MacBook Pro 13” (Model A2159). My Mac is currently locked, and I have forgotten the login password for the local account “mok”. I also do not have the FileVault recovery key.

I can access my iPhone, which is signed in with the same Apple ID: [*******@mail.ru]. However, Two-Factor Authentication is not enabled on my Apple ID.

I want to regain access to my Mac without erasing any data. I am ready to provide proof of ownership, including:

• Serial Number: [*********])

• Apple ID email: [*************])

• Phone number: [+**************]

Please guide me on the steps I need to follow or the documents required to verify ownership so I can regain access to my Mac safely.

Verifying ownership of the hardware and/or your Apple Account is irrelevant to recovering locally encrypted data.

The File Vault recovery key would have been presented to you during setup of the computer, or when File Vault was subsequently activated

You would have had to record it and save it in a safe and memorable place.

Hopefully, that will help you recall where it’s recorded.

Without it … or your Mac password … your prospects for ever gaining access to your data are bleak.

WARNING: Don’t forget your recovery key. If you turn on FileVault and then forget your login password and can’t reset it, and you also forget your recovery key, you won’t be able to log in, and your files and settings will be lost forever.
