AirPods Pro won't verify on iPhone with iOS 26

I just upgraded my phone to the new iPhone and am on iOS 26. I have tried to pair my AirPod pro’s and it keeps saying they can’t be verified when they are genuine Apple AirPods I brought from the Apple Store a couple of years ago. With this issue I am unable to see how much they are charged and they also keep disconnecting. Can you please advise how this issue can be fixed? Thank you
