AirPlay stops whenever opening Apple Music

In the last week or two, when I AirPlay to third party speakers (e.g., Sonos) via Apple Music on iPhone, each time I open the Music app it pauses the song. I then have to hit play each time. I've tried restarting, which doesn't fix it. My internet signal is strong. It seems to be something specifically about opening the Apple Music app on my phone.
