Office 365 behaviour after updating to macOS 26

System information and versions

System: iMac20,2 10-Core Intel Core i9

Version: macOS 26.0.1 (25A362)

Excel: Microsoft® Excel för Mac Version 16.102 (25101223)

Currently I have noticed that if I right hand click on a cell in ”Excel” to select the format in that cell the system disappears for approximately 25 sec before it opens the dialog box so I can set the format of this cell.

This makes it very time consuming to format the sheet if it’s several cells to format, if I compare it to previously the same operation took less than 1 sec. to open.

Any one else noticed the same behaviour in macOS 26?

iMac (2017 – 2020)

Now it’s improved a bit

System version: macOS 26.1 (25B78)

Microsoft® Excel för Mac Version 16.102.3 (25110228)

The delay now is down to aprox. 2,5 sec. so it’s improved quite drastically, but still a bit of a delay,

just for a test I created a macro to perform the formatting in a number of cells and the macro responded without delay when it still was a 20-30 sec. delay via the keyboard.

For me as well, Excel 16.102.1 on macOS 26.0.1. About 7 seconds whether it's via contextual menu, Command-1 or the Format menu. Usually (but not always) with some spinning beachball action. No delay on the same version of Excel running on Sequoia.

I see a 5 to 7 second delay on my M3 iMac.

Just spoke to Microsoft Office Support and got no help or explanation to the problem that appeared after the upgrade, time would have been better spent talking to my 2-year-old granddaughter.

In my case the delay is more like 20-30sec really annoying and time consuming.
