AirPods Pro 3 Charging Issue

Hi all,

I have a brand new pair of AirPod Pro 3 - love 'em and a huge upgrade since my first gen AirPods (not pro). However whenever I place them on a charging dock (MagSafe one) they constantly beep. They are charging - but just the constant noise like they have just been put down - every 5 minutes or less. I have tried two different dock things (not sure what they are called - magsafe chargers?

are they faulty or am I missing something. As most of the time they will be next to my bed at the end of the day, where getting to sleep is annoying!
