How to export a Note in markup? macOS Tahoe

I must be doing something dumb. As a test I made a simple four line Note. It has two character sizes and a bulleted list, second & third lines indented, like this. The third line auto-indents.

When I try to export it as markdown file I get a little animated popup window for a couple of seconds and my Mac it makes a clack noise. That's it. I'm not prompted for a filename.

In case I'm trying to export something that isn't supported, I tried making the Note a single line of text. Same result.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

OK then!

I was able to export in Safe mode.

And after booting back into normal mode, or whatever it's called, I was still able to export the Note.

I guess the days of "reboot and see if that fixes it" aren't behind us yet.

Many thanks.

The " Notes " application is associated with what Cloud Based Service ?

Like my colleague, I too can export a note as a Markdown without any issues ( associated with iCloud Services )

Export a note as a Markdown file

You can export your notes as Markdown files to integrate your notes into writing, content, and other workflows that support Markdown.

  1. Go to the Notes app  on your Mac.
  2. Click the note you want to export, then choose File > Export as > Markdown.
  3. If you want, you can type a new name for your file.
  4. Click Save.
