Just installed Safari 26.0.1 but preferred the previous visualisation of the bookmarks so my question how i can get my bookmarks back displayed compact?

Sadly, guys, that 'three dot' menu is missing from Safari 26 on Sequoia and wasn't restored by the Safari 26.0.1 release. Looking through the discussions on this site will reveal that it's a big problem for users who don't want to, or can't, upgrade to Tahoe. Mixed in to confuse things are several replies telling people just to use the 'three dot' menu that isn't there. Somewhere in here there's a way to use Terminal to get the desired result, but I haven't tried it.

Thank you. can you show a screenshot on the 3-dot button? I don't find it anywhere in the bookmark view.
It is so fraustrating. New feature shouldn't be set to default. Terrible roll out experience for me.

you are correct. on sequoia you will not find the "three dots" to change your bookmarks sidebar view.
but you do have a couple options.
the first option, you can lay a new sequoia install over the old one without completely erasing and reinstalling sequoia. afterwards, you will have sequoia with safari 18.6.
and the other option, you may want to look at 6x6's reply in this discussion. if you are comfortable using terminal, their suggestion fixes things for those of us on sequoia with safari 26.0.1.
I updated today to Sequoia 26.1 and am now running Safari 26.1 and have the 3-dot menu and was able to closely revert to my preferred view. Testing things I think I am only able to have one level of folder branching/nesting, so figuring that out.

either you have upgraded today to macOS 26 Tahoe, or you are using macOS 15.7.2 Sequoia. and since you now have the three dots to choose safari view options, you must now be on Tahoe, as those dots are still MIA for those of us on Sequoia.
Click on the three dots in the upper right of the sidebar and select "Compact."
Dear IdrisSeabright, I have also read about the three dots but I can not find that in safari, can you send a picture which three dots. I nowhere find an option to select compact.
