Touch ID window is blank after Sequoia 15.7.1 update

Before updating to 15.7.1, the Touch ID stopped working. I followed Apple's troubleshooting suggestions, including restarting the Mac, removing old fingerprints, reattaching the Mac keyboard, and updating the Mac with the latest software. Now, under Touch ID & Password, the window is blank, except for "A login password has been set for this user" at the top, which, by the way, still works.

How do I get Touch ID back?

Use the supplied Apple cable for the keyboard

Cable the keyboard directly to the computer

Turn the keyboard Off using the slider on the front edge of the keyboard

Reverse that previous step and turn On the keyboard

Does the keyboard Touch ID reappear in System Setting ?

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.

(For anyone who wonders if booting into Safe Mode works, I did not try it. )

To be fair - Safe Mode may not have fixed this specific issue

It ( Safe Mode ) has been known as one of the first trouble shooting methods to put some things right
