Slow desktop file appearance and email sending issues after macOS Tahoe 26 update

Hello,

When I save a file to the desktop from Photoshop, it often takes a long time to appear — sometimes more than 10 seconds. Occasionally it shows up right away, but most of the time it’s delayed. This started after updating to macOS Tahoe (26). It’s quite a serious issue and happens frequently. I save from Photoshop, then try to place the file in InDesign or Illustrator, but it’s not visible until I refresh Finder manually.

The Mail app, which had worked perfectly for about a year and a half, stopped sending messages after upgrading to macOS 26 (Tahoe). It still receives emails, but cannot send — both on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. On the same devices, Yandex Mail works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?

Thanks!

It is possible there are processes running in the background that are using significant resources. Check Activity Monitor, CPU tab, sort by % CPU to see what's running hard.

See if the problems are present when you boot in safe mode, which disables 3rd party extensions and performs some system cleanup.

Thank you for your reply.

However, this issue started only after updating to macOS Tahoe (26).

I’ve been using Mac computers for 4–5 years — first a MacBook Air, now a MacBook Pro — and after updating to Tahoe 26 about a month ago, I began experiencing seven different problems.

The two mentioned above are the most important ones, as they disrupt my workflow the most, and I still haven’t been able to solve them.

I also contacted Apple Support twice, but without any result.
