Critical Issues After Updating to Version 26.0.1

After updating all my devices (Mac, iPad, and iPhone) to version 26.0.1, I started facing several serious issues across macOS, iPadOS, and iOS:

  1. Bluetooth audio — AirPods and other Bluetooth headsets often fail to connect. They only work after several attempts (please see the attached video). This issue happens every day, and I’ve wasted a lot of time trying to reconnect. It has seriously affected my productivity.
  2. iPad clock issue — The iPad only shows half of the clock
  3. macOS Finder extensions — When I try to enable or disable extensions, nothing happens. The system doesn’t respond to the selection.
  4. PDF file warning — PDF files open normally at first. However, after changing the default app for PDFs, macOS starts marking every file as potential “malware” and shows a warning to move it to Trash. The white “Test.pdf” file is just an example — I’ve tested this with multiple normal PDFs, and all of them show the same behavior.
  5. Overall stability — Since this update, I’ve noticed multiple small glitches and inconsistencies across the system.

This version has caused major usability problems across all my Apple devices. Please escalate this feedback to the engineering team — version 26.0.1 appears to have introduced several bugs that affect daily workflow.

I have all the videos and evidence available if the engineering team needs them for further review.

Thank you,

Ahmed

Whatever you do, don't enter your make/model of car and 'transmission problems' into a web search or you may freak out. 😜

As Yer_Man points out, issues like the ones reported here are far from universal. There are bugs in Tahoe, mostly of the graphical/UI type and Spotlight is a little buggy, too. Certainly nothing show-stopping on any of my devices.

To take your first issue as an example, I have two sets of AirPods Pro and I use them with multiple devices (one on Sequoia, the others all on xOS 26.x) for several hours a day. I've had zero issues with connections.

Safe Mode is a good idea, another oldie-but-goodie troubleshooting step is to create a new user account (can be deleted later). If the issues don't occur in those test situations, then they are being caused by some 3rd party software (app/extension/etc.) you've installed on your device(s).

As explained in the terms of use you agreed to when you signed up, you’re not talking to Apple here. The people responding are Apple users like yourself. That's what this forum is - users reaching out for assistance, assistance being given by other Apple users/

So if you want this information to be read by Apple you need to post it to the Feedback Link:

Feedback - macOS - Apple

Just as an FYI: I have seen none of these issues you mention.

I have always hesitated upgrading immediately after a new release because invariably, there are serious issues found by every day users after updating.

This is actually not the case. While there are always going to be some issues for some people the vast majority of people update and go on with their lives. As I pointed out, for instance, I am experiencing none of the issues you mention, and as a frequent user and responder on these forums, I'm not seeing a significant number of issues like the ones you report. I would also add the the logic of waiting to upgrade actually means that you never upgrade, as every single update causes some issue for someone somewhere. None of this invalidates your experience, of course, but it does suggest a local problem rather than a systemic one. Old remedies are often very good: have you tried restarting your machine in Safe Mode, and then restarting again?

Thanks for your post. I have always hesitated upgrading immediately after a new release because invariably, there are serious issues found by every day users after updating. I just bought a Macbook Pro M4 Max and am NEW to the Macbook family, coming over to Apple after 27 years of Windows. I wanted to avoid the never ending problems experienced using Windows year after year, update after update and certainly don't want to experience them with going from Sequoia ( that I'm learning) over to the Tahoe. So I'll wait.

You can check X (Twitter) and YouTube — you’ll find way more people reporting issues 😅

I would ignore all of those because a: X is not a place to report anything in any depth, and YOuTube is not a place to report issues with Apple products, at least not if you want to get help with them. Further, how much of that stuff is bot driven? One thing about this site is the format requires the person asking to provide actual information on the issue, and not just sound off - something you've grasped quite clearly.
