Safari Tahoe: Changing default download location from Desktop does not work

The default download folder is Desktop. That's fine. But if you want to choose another folder (named "Inbox"), Safari accepts your choice but sends the file to Desktop.

Made the same choice for Screen Capture tool: changed to destination from Desktop to Inbox, but Tahoe just ignores me.

I read of a solution on a web page, but it involves Terminal, which means no Apple solution?

Yes, this seems like a minor prob, but I have always liked to keep my Desktop clean.

Screen Capture has nothing to do with where Safari downloads files. Safari has its own setting for where it downloads and the default is the “Downloads” folder, not the “Desktop.” Screen Capture defaults to “Desktop,” but I have changed it to one I named, “screenshots,” and it has never not saved to that folder. I have seen here that the Dropbox cloud storage interferes with the Screen Capture location, but I think it took it out of “Desktop.”

Which one are you trying to change, and as dialabrain asked, where is the “inbox” folder located?

OK, now Safari delivers downloads to folder Inbox which is a subfolder of folder Documents.

It is the Capture Tool that does not comply: It accepts my "Inbox" folder as a destination, but does not comply.

if there is some buried directory it does not comply with, change it to something more conventional
