  1. this is a user to user forum, you are not addressing Apple or the macOS 26 developers here.
  2. Apple stated firewire is now no longer supported. Doubtful they{d add it back, but you can always offer feedback at the following link.
    1. click here ➜ Feedback - iMac - Apple
  3. Technology is always moving forward, Firewire has not been mainstream on anything in at least a decade. Best to start considering a different option at this point.

No you can't.

You cannot convert firewire 800 to USB at all.

You can convert Firewire to Thunderbolt, but that will require a set of very expensive adapters, so you convert from Firewire to TB1/2 and then from TB2 to TB3 and hope it works.

Honestly, Firewire is dead and should be moved away from in this day and age.

My 3 ad converters are fw 400 and rock solid. It'd cost ~$4k to replace them. They run into a Belkin fw-tb-usb hub, which runs into an Apple-branded dongle (tb2-usb3) directly into my Apple computer. These dongles and hubs are ~$50 apiece online. I've never had a problem with this setup. It'd be a stupid shame to send it to landfill. I have an Appe-branded fw800-tb2 dongle in my cables box (~$50).

Ironically, MS and Linux continue to support fw.
