Audio over hdmi always stops working
Hey there!
I have an annoying problem on my macbook pro (16" M1, 2021), running macOS Tahoe.
I've had this problem on every OS version ever since I switched to M1, 2 years ago.
Im on my second M1 machine, as my screen broke and i found a new mac cheaper than the screen replacement, and I've had this problem on both of those macbooks.
(if it's caused by some program or setting, I have migrated everything to my current one so maybe also the thing that causes this problem?)
So whenever I am using HDMI to output to my tv, after a while the audio stops working.
I am not sure, but I think that when it happens, it's usually after it was in sleep mode for a while, or at least when it hasnt played audio/video for a while, as I don't think I remember it ever happening in the middle of playback.
So what happens is, I play something, like for example a youtube video, and the video doesn't start, keeps loading, and after a while youtube just says the video can't be played in my browser.
I tried playing a video on VLC and it also just doesn't want to start playing.
The problem is in the audio part.
That's what I think at least, cause when I keep video output to hdmi, but change the audio output to something else, like the built-in speakers, the video starts playing again, and when I change audio back to hdmi, it stalls again.
There's another weird issue when using airplay.
When I am using airplay for a while, video starts skipping forward and stutters.
I found some people with this problem when looking for solutions for the HDMI problem I'm having.
Idk if they are related but the solutions there were updating the OS, or force quitting coreaudiod, neither of which work in my case, for both of these problems.
The only thing that seems to work is restarting my computer, and it's becoming pretty annoying now, as it sometimes even happens more than once aday.
Any help?
Thanks!
