Macbook Pro M4 microphone picks speakers audio

The microphone on my Macbook Pro M4 is picking the audio from the speakers. For example, when using the voice recorder app I can clearly hear any system audio played during the recording session. Most of the time the audio is even louder than my voice. This makes it impossible to use my laptop without headphones.
