iMessage and FaceTime stuck verifying?

The other day I switched my old phone number to a different provider. Unlike every other time, this switch was a nightmare. In fact, my old provider’s sim switched off but it did not transfer the number to the new provider for several hours. Moreover, when the phone number transfer finally happened, I found out that iMessage and FaceTime could not be activated on the phone (there were also some issues with texts that only seem to work when on WiFi and I seem to receive some texts from abroad). Nevertheless, since earlier this morning both FaceTime and iMessage have been verifying. They have been doing that for few hours. How long will they take? What should I do if they are still struck at it, later on?
