GarageBand Input monitor not working.

I want to play electric guitar using GarageBand and hear what I am playing through the computer speakers.

I input through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I can record, and I can play back the recording throught the computer speakers so I know everything is workiing and pointed in the right direction.

But I can't play and hear what I am playing at the same time.

I have ticked the box that says 'I want to hear my instrument as I play and record.' I have monitoring enabled, and I can see a signal when I play, but no sound comes out.

It is the latest version of Garageband.

It is a 2021 MacBook Pro with Sequoia.

I have switched everything off and back on again.

Any advice welcome!

The current stable release of Tahoe including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 26.1 / Sequoia is 15.7.2
