Using the Samsung T7 SSD with my iPad A-7 Pro. I know

I can plug my Samsung T7 SSD into my iPad mini A-7 Pro, and the blue light comes on my biometric scanner. Based on the research I’ve done so far, it sounds like the USB port has sufficient power to drive the T7 solid straight drive. However, I have yet to get them to communicate with each other. Can any of you offer me suggestions or advice to solve this issue?
