Double charge Apple Wallet.

Hi guys... I just want to know if any of you had problems with double charges when paying you apple card through the wallet. On the 31th I had a statement of $76.xx dollars but my balance available to pay was $81.xx then I thought, well..I can pay the whole thing easy. But a few days later I notice 2 (two) charges in my bank account, with both the $76 and the $81 dollars. I immediately contacted the support that after analysis they said nothing is wrong because it was a scheduled payment, however I paid through the wallet! and it showed $0 balance right after. And wait.. this is the SECOND TIME this happens! After getting the response from Gold and Sachs I called them, and the representative from Gold Sachs said there is nothing they can do, I should call my bank and ask to cancel the transaction... but it's not simple as that, I can't cancel a payment after paying a store. I'm so tired of BS from these guys, they know they messed up and don't want to do the right thing, refund. A trillion dollar company cannot refund a double charge of $76 dollars, that makes no difference whatsoever for them, but it does for me.

Thanks

Scheduled Payments (Auto Pay) will happen on the set day unless you cancel the payment 24 hours in advance. You effectively made two payments and the bank had no way of knowing so, the Scheduled Payment was completed and the payment you sent was also completed. Once the current statement closes on November 30 if you have a negative balance due, you can request a refund in December. Goldman Sachs will send a check to your address. This is the way all banks work.

Federal banking regulations permit your bank to request return of both payments for 30 days. Goldman has no way of knowing this isn’t an attempt on your part to commit fraud. They return funds to you now and you stop payment on November 30 and they come up short. It seems to me it’s your bank that isn’t cooperating.

If you respect your banks position, why aren’t you showing Goldman Sachs the same respect? After all, it’s your mistake and it’s the second time. Why would you do the same thing twice and expect a different outcome?

A Pending charge will appear in your Wallet, but you cannot pay it until it has been finalized which usually takes about a day. It is more likely to notice this with charges on the last day of the month where the statement for that month only shows the finalized charges and the charge that is still Pending will show on the next month statement.

Another time you will always see a Pending Charge that will later be changed and posted with a different amount is when you pay at a Restaurant. The Pending charge you will see show in your Wallet is the amount of Food, then you will be presented with the credit card receipt where you can add a tip and sign the receipt. That Pending Charge will then change to the amount after your tip has been added to the purchase. That is done when the retailer finalizes there charges and you will see that appear in your Wallet usually the next day, but not unusual for it to be two.

If you see the word "Pending" on a transaction in your Wallet, it has not been finalized and you cannot pay it yet and it will not appear on your statement.

Your best practice is to set the scheduled payment a few days before the end of the month. If you decide to make extra payments you’ll have several days to do so, after the scheduled payment. Not sure if you’re aware but you’re allowed to make 5 electronic payments per day, so approximately 300 a month. A now some users that are so anxious about payments they make a payment a day or two after every charge.

Thanks for the insight (also Mac Jim). Just better explaining the process. When I open my Wallet in the 30 or 31st, I check how much I have due in installments(I don't have any now but how it's been in the past) which is the minimum I can pay, and I can "spin" the wheel in the apple wallet and choose to pay more. I have done that several times, choosing to pay a different (higher) amount than my current period statement, I often do that and it works just fine, the system knows I'm paying already and doesn't charge me again, that's how it was supposed to be. But twice (last year and this month) the system failed in recognizing my early payment in the same day, and charged me again.

I'll check my statement whenever it's closed and reach out to Goldman and Sachs see how this can be solved or my bank. *Note: I canceled my autopay, just in case.

Thanks.
