I have a 2025 MacBook Air that I travel with a lot, and I'm worried about damaging it since it's so thin. Would you recommend using a case or cover for it? If so, what types or brands are good quality and won't damage or scratch the laptop over time?

Do not use a plastic (or otherwise) snap-on style case. These types of cases can sometimes do more harm than good by putting stress on the already very thin top-case (or lid) as well as get grit in-between the Macbook and the snap-on case panels which can cause scuffs and scratches.
Use a form-fitted, padded computer bag sized correctly to the MacBook or a similar computer backpack as BobTheFisherman suggests.
A simple neoprene padded computer sleeve will also protect well but these usually don't have a carrying handle.

I traveled the globe with my Mac for business. I always used a computer backpack and never experienced any issues with my Mac.
