Receipt without my name or any other personal information

Hi

I've purchased a MacBook Air at a physical Apple Store in the US.

I am going to be reimbursed by the research agency that funds my research.

I need to send them an invoice that at least contains my name on it so they can proceed with the reimbursement, but the receipt Apple sent to my email after I bought the notebook does not contain any personal information other than the last four numbers of my debit card, which I used in the transaction.

I contacted the Apple Store where I bought the MacBook, and they've told me that there is nothing they can do. I called Apple Sales Support, and the answer was the same - they informed me that there is no other document that they can provide that would be more detailed.

Has anyone been through this as well? Have you been able to get a more detailed receipt?

The reason your sales receipt does not bear your name is that Apple has no interest in confirming your identity. It's none of their business.

I suppose you could have requested Apple to confirm your identity prior to purchasing your MBA, but I don't know if they would agree even in that case. How would they do that? Apple would need to establish procedures uniformly applied among hundreds of stores. It would be problematic to implement and prone to abuse. I would be offended if anyone asked me to do that for any in-person purchase of anything. I'd probably refuse and walk out. Others would probably sue.

It seems to me your research agency's requirement is unreasonable on that basis.

If you purchase from the Apple Store Online that's a different story since you pay for an item that needs to be sent to the person who bought it.
