Accessing Apple ID under Power of Attorney
My 90 year old mother owns an IMac, an Ipad and an Iphone and has an Apple account. She was admitted to memory care this week. She can no longer use her Apple devices and services since she cannot unlock them with her Activation Code as it is one of the many things she cannot remember. I can't get access to the devices as I do not have her Activation Code, so I do not know what versions of the devices she has. The devices are all in my possession at this time.
Mom's decline was so rapid that her information was lost to her before we knew how far she had declined.
There is data in her Icloud and on her Imac that I would like to preserve. She spent the last 30 years doing photography and I really don't want to lose those digital images she has in Icloud and on her Imac.
In addition, she has Apple subscriptions that I would like her to stop paying for as she needs the money for her living expenses in memory care. She is a family member on my Apple accounts, but I am not on her accounts. Judging by how ill prepared she was for dealing with her finances at the end of life, I would be shocked to learn she named a legacy contact.
I currently have power of attorney and will be the executor and sole beneficiary of her will when the time comes.
What can I do now to start the process of unwinding her digital life with Apple under my power of attorney?
