I have disabled the general setting to send read receipts.
I only enable it for individual conversations.
However, why can't I enable it for group conversations, for example with my mother and father?

Group conversations, even using iMessage (blue bubbles), don't support read receipts or typing indicators.

There's no workaround. iMessage simply doesn't support read receipts and typing indicators for group messages.
The 'workaround' would be using another app that does support them.
