Face ID is not capturing my face in setup, iPhone 12

I have been trying to reset my Face ID because it stopped working. I have read all discussion on setting up face ID. I follow all the steps correctly. When I position my face and turn it completely in perfect lighting I get no response. There are no messages asking me to try again. The first time I set it up there was a circle of radiating lines following my turning but now all I have on the screen are the corners showing me where to position my face. I position correctly and turn, but there is no response. Neither is there any prompt other than the red cancel. What do I do? I am really unhappy with constantly having to input my password even though most of the time I am home and do not need security on my phone. It seems it is impossible to remove the security as well. Please offer solutions

Burrobabe ~ As your iPhone 12 could be 5 years old, it's worth checking for a weak, aging battery. Face ID particularly puts a heavy demand on the battery which, if not healthy or genuine, may cause the issue you're seeing. So...

Does your iPhone 12 still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...
