Updating iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 18.7.2

I have an iPhone 11 Pro running iOS 18.7.1, I have an update notification for iOS 18.7.2 BUT when I try to download it I keep getting diverted to Upgrade to iOS 26. I don't wish to upgrade to iOS 26 I just want the Security UPDATE iOS 18.7.2. Is there anyway to do this without UPGRADING, as I do not not get the choice? Any assistance would be appreciated.

My iPhone is on iOS 18.7.1, with automatic updates disabled. When I go into Software Update, it first offers only the latest version of iOS 26. But if I tap the Back button on that screen, it then offers iOS 18.7.2.

I’m guessing that if my iPhone was still on something earlier than iOS 18, there wouldn’t be an iOS 18.7.2 option, not even a “hidden” one.

Try going to:

Settings > General > iPhone Storage

Can you see if you have downloaded the iOS 26.1 update there? If so, tap and delete it. Also look for iOS 18.7.2, if it is there, delete it too. After that, try restarting, and try going back and trying to download and update to iOS 18.7.2.

iOS 26 should still be "only" an option for users who are still on iOS 18.

iOS 18.7.2 was released on or about Nov 5, so it was only available for a short period of time before Apple stopped signing iOS 18 for the iPhone 11 versions.

I was able to update my old iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 18.7.2 on about Nov 7 as I recall. I don't know the exact cut off date reading the iPhone 11.

Unfortunately, it looks like your only options at this point would be to stay on iOS 18.7.1 or move to iOS 26.

Apple only approves a previous software version for a short time after a new one is released. If you want to downgrade (can only be done via computer), it is important to know if Apple still "signs" the previous software version.

It often takes up to a week before a previous version is no longer signed. After that, there is no going back.

It is also the case that if you want to update from iOS 16 to iOS 18, it would not be possible OTA. Partly because you can't skip a version, and because iOS 18 is not signed for iPhones that support iOS 26.

Thread starter SHOULD be able to update OTA from iOS 18.7.1 to 18.7.2, since it is an OTA update, and a security update.

I have an update and thank you very much for every ones assistance. I plugged my iPhone 11 Pro into my iMac as suggested by Bob Timmons and it tells me my iPhone is up to date with iOS 18.7.1 so not sure why my phone itself under 'Software Update' is saying 18.7.2. My wife also has an iPhone 11 Pro and hers says exactly the same (she also has the same problem as mine not updating). She has an iPad Mini 6th Gen which she was able to update to iOS 18.7.2. Strange but will have to go with 18.7.1 as the most recent update for our phones.

Again thank you to every one in this Community who assisted me.

How is it determined that Apple has “Stopped Signing”.....

I don't know. But a clue might be that posts on support sites start appearing from users asking why they can no longer update to whatever iOS they were still using at the time.

I updated my old 11 Pro on Nov 7, if I remember correctly. But, I forgot to update my wife's 11 Pro at the time and tried to update about a week later and the only option that appeared at that time was iOS 26. So, her phone will stay on 18.7.1 for the time being.
