Bugs and many questions about MacOS's music app:

Many bugs and many questions for macOS Tahoe 26 Music App:

  1. the music playing tab is at the bottom, why is not at the top like it's always been?
  2. the shuffling button is broken, why is the shuffle button highlighted and not shuffling my music when you double-click the recently added and plays in artist alphabetically?
  3. Is the iTunes Store in music app going to get an update to match the new Liquid Glass design or stay stagnant?
  4. The music app has a period of time where you cannot play music, it used to play on the fly once opened, why is it not like what it used to be?
  5. Why does the music album covers not appear synced between all my devices with Apple Music Service, when it appears blank on iOS and fully appears on macOS?
  6. Why ruin a perfectly good product "if ain't broke don't fix it" mentality?

The initial release of Tahoe 26.0 was released on September 15, 2025.

A subsequent update, version 26.0.1, was released on September 29. I believe It was primarily released to address a specific issue related to Apple’s release of macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 with a M3 Ultra bug fix.

Since then, the full point update, version 26.1, was released on November 3, 2025 with some real refinements.

From my observation, most of the refinements take effect approximately three points into the update cycle.

If you can manage with the current offers from Apple, many music-related issues will resolve over time.

As the saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day.”

As explained in the terms of use you agreed to when you signed up, you’re not talking to Apple here. The people responding are Apple users like yourself. That's what this forum is - users reaching out for assistance, assistance being given by other Apple users. I mention this as background to my rule of thumb:

If your question asks 'Why?" then only Apple can answer it and best posed to them, directly.

  1. See rule of thumb.
  2. That's not happening here. Shuffle works as normal. Also, see answer no. 1.
  3. No one here knows anything about what plans Apple has - or doesn't have - about anything.
  4. See answer no. 2.
  5. See answer no. 1
  6. See answers 1, 2, 5
