Lightning cables stopped charging after one year

2 lightning cables just stopped charging after a year. Has this happened to you? Apple support said they don’t fix cables. I can’t have them replaced because they are beyond the warranty period. They look new as they are just usually plugged to the socket in my room. Any ideas why this happened and if there’s any fix?

Yeah, that happens more often than you’d think. Even if they look fine, the pins on the Lightning end can get worn or oxidized, or the internal wires just fatigue over time. Leaving them plugged in all the time doesn’t really help either.

There’s no real fix once they stop making a solid connection. You can try gently cleaning the metal pins with a dry cloth, but most of the time it’s just the cable giving up and you’ll need a new one.
