Creating films with AI and Final Cut Pro without a camera

I am fairly sure that Gemini and Grok AI could be teamed with Final Cut Pro to create a decent film without going anywhere near a camera.

Most shots in films are well under 5 seconds long after editing so there should be no real problem producing an action etc. sequence.

I am sure it has been done already. If you have made a small film in this way or know of any could you please leave a link.

EDIT: Incidentally it looks as though the forum is using AI to create the title from the information I provided.

What I had in mind was creating a story board using photographs and animating them in a manner to create a coherent video and audio narrative.

I have just spent 30 minutes experimenting with a single photo I took in February 1963.

I used Gemini to modify the photo several times and Grok to provide the animation. The result is far from perfect (the number of participants magically increase!) and the continuity and colour correction need some work but I think it is quite interesting especially in the brief time it took.

I understand what you are saying and I agree to a certain point but let's get back to the basics.

What are films all about?

They are simply devices to tell a story just like books and plays and songs etc.

So how you achieve that story should be immaterial . . . after all we don't stop an author writing because of their dyslexia . . . we just want their imagination transferred into our brains and it is the same with films.

We want the film to tell a story and it should not matter what technical means are used to achieve that end.

My video clip was extremely crude as it was simply a proof of concept test but really complex films are possible and it does not mean they can be created by talentless people as there has to be the "script" followed by the knowledge of how to control the AI. As you saw in my example, the participants almost doubled in numbers, so a technique is required to prevent that.

Furthermore, short as it was, my effort required a number of steps such as creating new photos from the last frame of each clip in order to get Grok to progress the action and location . . . it wasn't simply a matter of writing, "Make the boys run from the bridge, go through a forrest and meet a triceratops."

So making an AI movie would not be talentless, it would simply be using a different set of skills.

You could just as easily say that photography and film making is devoid of talent and is done by people who can't paint or perform plays in a theatre.

That's a start. I have seen a few "Starwars" sequences but they look rather dated like some 1980 video game. So far I have seen some interesting mini- sequences but I'm sure there must be some experimental film makers out there making films several minutes long telling a story. The obvious use of Grok etc. is in wedding type films where you may not have videos of all the guests but can supplement the missing people with animated photos.

Not true, because those things are different mediums. A photograph isn't masquerading a painting. And yeah, I'm not fond of those cheesy painting or comic book filters some people use in their videos... they stand out like a sore thumb and not in a good way. To me those are filters that people who don't have much/any videomaking experience like to use. With AI the computer is doing all of the heavy lifting for you in creating the video. All you do is keep inputting prompts and then eventually the AI gives you something somewhat close to what you want. It's not a talent or a skill, it's a roll of the dice. Eventually if you keep rolling you'll get an acceptable result.

I use Sora and Grok to make me laugh, and sometimes I show the results to my wife or my friends. It's fun! But I could never actually be proud of something I made with AI.
