Logic Pro with Yamaha 01v96i

Hi,

my Logic Pro won't find Yamaha 01v96i mixer's tracks that I have plugged in to USB. I have updated all possible drivers, but I can only see Mac's intrernal mic as available sound input. What could be the fix for this issue?

I solved the issue by reinstalling the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver V3.1.7 and before that did changes to security settings following these instructions: https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-1588312 .

Issue was that driver was not installed first time due to MacOS security settings.

Hi, I have updated latest drivers for Yamaha Steinberg USB Control Panel (3.1.7) and Logic Pro. Also, I have reset factory setup to Yamaha 01v96i digital mixer and setup mixer again. No change to the situation.
Should that Support article also fix the issue with 01v96i mixer?

Not sure why we're now including the Steinberg USB Control Panel here, but okay. I assume that's the basis for the mixer.

Maybe, maybe not. The 01v96 is much older, but the devices may be similar enough that the guidance might be helpful. Of course, start by making sure the firmware of the mixer is up to date.

Have you considered the possibility of a bad USB cable between the mixer and the computer? Try the connection again using a known good or brand new cable. If you're using any adapter between the devices consider that adapter may be problematic.

Do you have any anti-virus, cleanup, optimizing or VPN software installed on the Mac?

The Mac doesn't require these types of apps and they often interfere with the proper operation of the OS and other apps. Disable or uninstall these and see if the issue resolves.

Which Mac - model and year - and what version of macOS are you running?

btw - I believe Yamaha owns Cubase, a Logic Pro competitor, so their assistance may not be whole hearted.

Is this a new problem?

Has this mixer ever worked on this Mac?

I can't speak to the use and settings for the Steinberg Control Panel. There may be some particular setting(s) that need to be addressed there as well to resolve this.

Same goes for the mixer. For example, I use a Zoom audio mixer and that hardware requires acknowledgement of the unit as an audio interface for the Mac when I power it up. So your mixer may require some button pushing or i/o setup itself that may be deficient.

As for Logic, you will need to select the mixer as an Audio input/output device.

Find those settings in Logic Pro > Settings > Audio > Devices tab.

Also check in Finder > System Settings > Sound and make sure that the Mac itself sees the Yamaha as a USB audio i/o device.
