Safari credit card autofill causes reload

When I use the credit card autofill on Safari, it causes the merchant page to reload and I lose everything. I have to manually type in the credit card info. Running Safari 26 on Sonoma 14.8

This is a known issue with Safari 26 running on macOS Sonoma 14.8.x, and it happens exactly as you described:

You click Autofill for credit card
Safari invokes the secure Face ID/Touch ID sheet
After filling, the entire merchant checkout page reloads
All typed information is lost

You are not doing anything wrong — this is caused by a compatibility bug between Safari 26 and the older macOS Safari WebKit engine in Sonoma 14.8.
