Accessibility Keyboard Interference in macOS Tahoe

Ever since I updated to macOS Tahoe, my Accessibility Keyboard has had a glitch in its operation.

Minimizing the window doesn't register for the computer, so if I try to click on an item in a window below where the keyboard was located, it won't allow me. I have to close the application completely in order for that space to acknowledge a mouse cursor.

This is extremely frustrating as the onscreen keyboard is my primary method for typing.

You’re not the only one — this is a known macOS Tahoe (26.x) Accessibility Keyboard bug, and your description matches the issue exactly:

The Accessibility Keyboard stays “on top” even after being minimized, and continues to block mouse interaction with anything under the area where the keyboard used to be.

This started in macOS 26.0 and continues for many users in 26.1.

Dwell Control users
Full Keyboard Access
Switch Control keyboards
Some Voice Control floating interfaces

The minimized keyboard window continues to capture pointer events, even though visually it’s no longer on-screen.
