Can't add phone number to Apple ID and iMessage is not working with eSIM on iPhone 17.

Hello!


I recently got an iPhone 17 (iOS 26.1) and used it with a local physical SIM card. After a couple of weeks I switched it to an eSIM and then added a new foreign physical SIM card of another number I have in the slot.


My issue is that I can't send iMessages at all. All bubbles are green. The eSIM number won't be added to iMessages at all (keeps loading). I noticed that only the foreign SIM card number is added to my Apple ID, so I tried to add the eSIM number and i get a message in the lines of "Too many requests for this number. Try again later".


I read online that I need to wait for up to 24 hours between attempts, which I did, but nothing changed. Same error message, same failure to use iMessage.


Any ideas? Thanks in advance!


P.S. The accounts added to iMessage atm are:

  1. Foreign phone number
  2. iCloud account
