iPhone 12 CarPlay message audio silent

I just upgraded to a new 2025 Honda CR-V, my iPhone 12 (iOS version 18.6.2) is synced using Apple CarPlay, however, when I press to play the unread messages, it starts to play then and goes silent. This is both in WhatsApp and Messages. I haven't changed any of the settings since switching cars, and everything works perfectly in the 2024 CR-V I had. Any ideas on how to fix this, as I can only send messages right now :(

Honda systems only allow you to change the voice volume while the voice is actively speaking. If you turn the knob at any other time, it only changes the music volume.

The Action: Ask Siri to "Read my messages."
The Timing: The moment you see the waveform appear on screen (or the music volume dips), immediately turn your car’s physical volume knob UP.
Result: You should see a separate volume bar (often labeled "Guidance," "Voice," or "Navi") rise up from 0.

I tried this approach and unfortunately it did'nt work. When I tap to play unread messages or ask siri it starts to play the messages..

"Susan said"

then goes quiet

"Would you like"

then goes quite

and is stuck on the screen where it asks to replay the message, reply or done.

So it's like it's trying to play the message after Siri's introduction to who the message is from but just stops :( Any other suggestions appreciated.
