Keep in mind the MBAirs do not have a cooling fan while the MBPro's have at least one cooling fan. People who use the laptop with heavier workloads like video editing report the Airs get very hot so a Pro would be a better option if something like that is the case with your fiance's workloads for the laptop.
Edit: The Airs only have two USB-C ports as well while the Pros may have an extra port & even an HDMI port & SD Card slot if that is important.
The 14" M5 MacBook Pro would be the closest thing.
The base configuration comes with 16GB of RAM now.

With that said, even the current M4 MacBook Air will run laps around the 2017 MacBook Pro and is also quite a bit cheaper.
