Removed playlist songs remain downloaded on iPhone 11

Updated playlist songs remain downloaded?

So I'm using an iPhone 11 and when I remove a song from a playlist I downloaded, the song remains downloaded. I can confirm this by checking the downloaded songs section, the deleted song stays there with all the other songs in the playlist. This results in me having about 20 songs I never listen to downloaded in my phone. yikes.

The weird thing is, when I checked out my friend's iPhone 13, her downloaded songs section was empty even though her playlist was downloaded. She removed a song from that playlist and it removed download too.

How do I fix this? Is this the universe's way of telling me to update my **** phone? Haha
