Apple Pencil connects and gestures work, but won't draw (The tip is not the issue)

Suddenly my apple pencil stopped working almost completely yesterday. I have recently replaced the tip, and I tried using another tip which works on a friend's pencil to no avail. It connects and the squeeze gestures work, it just will not draw. I got it to work temporarily a few times but it dropped connection constantly and now it has completely stopped working. The problem is not my Ipad as my friend connected my pencil to her ipad and it wouldn't work.

If the Pencil neither works with your own iPad nor another compatible iPad (such as that of your friend), then a logical conclusion is a fault with the Pencil.

If the Pencil pairs and charges successfully with the host iPad, failure to work as expected suggests possible damage to the transducer element that interacts with the iPad screen. If the fragile metal transducer beneath the plastic tip is distorted or damaged (as may occur if the Pencil is dropped onto its tip - or excessive lateral pressure has been applied) the Pencil will require replacement. Repair of an Apple Pencil is not possible.

If your Pencil is within its one year warranty, it may be worthwhile asking for help at an Apple Store where your iPad and Pencil can be assessed and tested - but be aware that accidental damage is not covered by the limited warranty. However, if your iPad has AppleCare+ cover, then accidental damage of the Pencil may be covered.
