M2 MacBook Pro: Built-in input fails in cold

On my M2 MacBook Pro, whenever it’s in a slightly cold environment, both the built-in keyboard and trackpad stop working completely, but the power button still works and the screen stays on. This happens consistently in cooler rooms. External USB/Bluetooth keyboard and mouse do continue to work when it happens. I’ve tried Safe Mode and the issue still occur there. I tried clearing the CMOS also.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.5

Not sure what is your CMOS...(?) is that some kind of short hand for a Mac startup key combinations

None the less it sounds to me there is a generic fault in the cable connection for trackpad/keyboard expanding or contracting the traces routes depending on temperature.

This would be considered a hardware issue.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
