Magic Mouse Issues

I have two Magic Mouse 2 (lightning) ones that was originally came with a batch of iMacs about 2 years ago. Both mices work fine for about two years then they both stopped working. These are both (A1657) models. The teacher had each station label along with the accessories (keyboard/mouse).

  1. (8) In Bt, it is recognized and shows that it is charging but the moment it is unplugged it disappears from the list. It no longer holds a charge.
  2. (14) In Bt, it is not recognized and not charging.

I have tested both of them on another Mac with the same result. I am thinking the battery has failed and no longer works. I am guessing that Apple will not replace them since the warranty has expired on the Macs.

Both Magic Mouse 2 units show classic internal battery failure — one holds zero charge, the other won't charge at all. Apple doesn’t replace batteries for Magic Mouse 2, so out-of-warranty units must be replaced. This is common after ~2 years in classroom environments.
