HomePod Mini playing music from library in Home app, but cannot connect with other apps.

I have a HomePod Mini that has power and in the Home app plays music from my library, but now it no longer is recognized as an available Bluetooth speaker in other apps like NPR and Spotify. It shows as being connected to my WiFi. I get the error code: AirPlay Unable to connect to "Bedroom" (with iPad Air M2 OS 26.1) or AirPlay Unable to connect to "<Unknown>" (with iPhone Pro Max also on OS 26.1. Another brand Bluetooth speaker pairs and works fine. I've tried deleting/reinstalling the apps, restarting my WiFi router, iPhone, iPad, and of course the HomePod Mini, still no connection.

it is not a bluetooth speaker, it only use bluetooth to be configured otherwise it rely on wifi to be used as an airplay speaker

Play audio on HomePod using iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

if that stopped working then I suppose if it was me then I would reset it and set it up once more

and of cause if one use a mix of 2.4Ghz wifi and 5Ghz wifi then ones wifi router needs to be set to bridge the two, if the homepod is connected to one and the ios device to the other
