How do I stop my MacBook Pro's keyboard from flashing like a strobe light?

You put your fingers on the track pad and it stops (often it doesn’t actually stop though), and within 5 seconds it starts again, over and over. It’s been doing it for months.

If I close my laptop it still continues and it drains the battery during the night. I’ll have my laptop at 60% when I close it and wake up and its dead.

I’ve actually seen a lot of posts about this happening to people since 2008….

Does this Mac have a touch bar?

(The first MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar was released in October 2016 . This is a far cry from your 2008 reference above.)

A keyboard is separate if this is your issue it is unclear???

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NVRAM Reset)
