Apple Devices app for Windows 11 fails to enable 'Show this iPhone when on Wi-Fi' feature after OS reinstallation

apple devices app for windows 11 25H2. i recently just wiped my desktop and reinstalled my operating system for a clean start. i have an iphone 14. i really like the apple devices app for windows 11. i get it from the microsoft store and i update the app as often as every day. i always check for new updates.

on my previous OS installation, i was able to connect my iphone via USB & WiFi. A really cool feature is "Show this iPhone when on wifi" checkbox.

however, the problem is with my new OS installation. previously, before reinstalling my OS, i was able to use this feature "Show this iPhone when on Wi-Fi". the problem is since reinstalling my OS, this Apple Devices feature fails to work. every time i check the checkbox and press apply, i then press the sync button and it just resets the checkbox to unchecked. i think there is some bug in the apple devices app that is preventing me from enabling this "show over wifi" feature. i really like the show over wifi feature and i wish i could get it up and running like it used to be before i reinstalled my OS.

please fix this bug so that i can connect my iPhone to the Apple Devices app over WiFi just like it used to work.

If it still does not work, that means the device's trust is broken.

Reset Trust Settings on the iPhone/iPad

  1. On your iPhone/iPad:
  2. Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Location & Privacy
  3. This clears all previous “trusted computers,” forcing your device to ask again.
