Time Machine is not backing up on Tahoe 26.2

Updated my M2 Max MBP to Tahoe 26.2, now I can't get Time Machine to work. I've tried the usual steps to no avail. Anyone else have this problem and/or a fix?

The drive works now, I guess it "resolved" itself overnight.

This was my MBP being backed up to a 2TB SSD via Thunderbolt Cable. I went through restarting the computer, unplugging/replugging in the SSD, repartitioning the SSD through disk utility, and deleted contents off the drive (even though there was more than enough space for future backups).

I did see there were some reports in the 26.2 beta of it not working.

We can mark this as resolved. Thanks.

Just to add

Not using TM Backup ( at this time ) to an attached External Drive

Yes, backing up to an attached External Drive using a Third Party application called Carbon Copy Cloner

This machine was update to Tahoe 26.2 Saturday very early hours of morning

Ran the CCC backup by about 11:00 AM Saturday and had zero issues whatsoever

Same here... M3 Macbook Pro on Tahoe 26.2... Using my NAS for Time Machine worked before the upgrade now it doesn't... apple fix this please!

Certain misconceptions that persist regarding the relationship between Apple Computer and third-party devices, accessories.

These misconceptions often arise when third-party products fail to function or meet user expectations.

Apple is responsible for addressing issues with its own services, applications, operating systems, and accessories.

However, Apple cannot rectify user choices of third-party products  installed and used on their computers.

This responsibility lies solely with the third party to evaluate the performance of their products when used on an Apple Computer running the intended version of macOS.

Why do you assume that any and all 3rd party software and hardware that run properly on the current version of macOS will also run properly on a newer version of macOS? The UPDATE may break compatibility with the 3rd party software/hardware, but it is not Apple's responsibility to ensure that macOS remains compatible with 3rd party products, it is the developer's/manufacturer's responsibility to ensure that their products continue to work. That's the point of beta versions of the software.

Since you post no details about your problem ('it doesn't work' doesn't comprise details) except that your problem is different than that of the OP, you are not likely ro receive helpful suggestions here. So your options remain

  1. Contact your NAS vendor
  2. Contact Apple Support
  3. Wait and hope Apple fixes the problem you think they caused

For me, hope is not a plan. Might work better for you. Good luck.

I've received several "only via email" replies that go like this... "not apple's fault this didn't work, it's the third party hardware vendor... ", "Original poster said his is fixed" , etc. totally unhelpful. If it worked before and nothing changed on the hardware end, then the UPDATE broke it...and original poster had a slightly different question...
