so today I decided to charge my old iPod from 2022, I went to look through the old photos that weren’t on my new phone , later on I went on the app again to find out that the iPod had synced to my new phone , all the old photos are gone , how do I get them back

The only iPod that Apple still sold in 2022 was the iPod touch. If It is syncing with your iPhone, that would imply that both are using the same Apple ID and are using iCloud Photos.
By any chance, did you ever delete the old photos from your iPhone – or from any other device connected to iCloud Photos? iCloud Photos is a synchronization service, so deleting a photo anywhere would delete it everywhere.
