help with system settings with Tahoe for MacBook Air

Recently upgraded to Tahoe 26.1. How do I prevent files on my desktop from "stacking?" Can't see them when they are on top of each other! Also: files removed from trash to desktop have vanished, when I do a "find" for them they are gone, who knows where. Any suggestions?

Removed how? If they were dragged back to the desktop that is where they should be. If the Trash was emptied, you may be able to find them in their original location on your Time Machine backup, that’s what it’s for. If you don’t have a backup, now may be the time to start.
