How to upload .ics files into Calendar app on iPhone 13?

How do I upload an Apple iCalendar file, a .ics file, into my iCalendar on my iPhone 13? Seems odd that Apple wont recognize its only file.

There are 2 ways:

Send yourself an email containing the .ics file. In the email, tap the file.
Move the file to the Files app, long-press it and choose to add it to Calendar.
