how to authenticate a photo in tahoe?
I want to use my own image (as used for years on my series on macs) now that i've upgraded to tahoe? It's telling me I need to authenticate. Help?
Say more about 'authenticate' – what are you trying to accomplish?
If you open an image in Preview, use Command-I to show the Inspector, and click on the expansion caret > next to TIFF, it will show data that are in the Artist and Copyright fields of the image EXIF data. Not sure if that's what you mean.

Are you in System Settings? It may be asking for your login password, which is needed to modify certain settings.
