Strange Floating Icons

Strange Floating Icons

Can anybody tell me what these icons that float over everything represent? They disappear when I click on them.

Looks like they may have something to do with Continuity or Handoff, which I have never used (intentionally).

How can I keep them from appearing?

M3 MacBook Air running Mac OS 14.3 Sonoma.
