In Privacy & Security, the microphone is on.
Why isn't the microphone working on macOS 26.2 in the Signal and Telegram apps?

Look at your Audio MIDI Setup.app and see if there is any resolve there...

Is the microphone working in other apps, like for example Quicktime Player?
When you say "the microphone is on", I take it that you mean these two applications "Telegram" and "Signal" appear in
System Settings->Privacy & Security->Microphone, and the boxes are checked, right?
What exactly happens when you try to use the microphone in these applications? Be specific.
Thanks for your help! The microphone was muted in the MIDI settings for some reason. As soon as I unmuted it, everything worked.
Incidentally, the microphone worked on FaceTime but not on apps like Telegram and Signal. Weird.

Yes, the microphone was enabled in this section for both the Telegram and Signal apps. However, the problem was in the MIDI settings, where the microphone had been muted for some reason.
